Why We Worship

Worship is a fundamental part of Christian life, it is a way of life, in fact its the whole reason why we are here.

Psalms 29 vs 2 "Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness."

It is our duty to give our all to Him in light of everything He has done for us; anything less is unacceptable.

How should we worship

Many people worship in different ways; I believe worship is a personal act of adoration and reverence towards God for who He is, of which you can show in thought, feeling or action.

One of my favourite examples of somebody who understood worship is Isaiah 6 vs 1-5:

1. In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
2. Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.
3. And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.
4. And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.
5. Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.

When Isaiah saw God sitting upon His throne he said "Woe is me! for I am undone ...", Woe meaning a passionate cry of grief or despair, undone meaning to be brought to silence, to be cut down. Isaiah was speechless before God, he felt broken before God, his whole world had just been turned upside down.

Isaiah's reaction was one of worship, in God's presence he had to bow down.
