Get Ready
At some point in our Christian lives, we may have found ourselves just meandering, going nowhere fast, having the potential to do great things, but achieving nothing. This could be for all sorts of reason & we are going to explore a couple of them here. Then, out of the blue, God speaks directly to you, you know it, its unmistakeable, God is calling YOU!
Maybe you are aware that God has spoken to you via your Pastor or a Prophet. Or maybe God just spoke into your spirit about the plans He has for you. Maybe God made promises to you months, even years ago, yet although you believe God's promises, you just can't see them coming about. Sometimes there is a gap between hearing the Word of God for our lives and receiving the manifestation of that Word.
In Gen12:1-4, we learn for the first time that God intends to make Abram into a great nation and that Abram was 75 years old when God spoke to him about this. However it was 25 years later (see Gen 21:1-6) before Isaac was born to Abraham and Sarah.
In Exodus we also learn how God supernaturally brought His chosen people out of Egypt. The plan was to go to Canaan, the promised land, however a journey that should have taken less than a month lasted 40 years. Why was this so? I believe that there are several reasons, but for now, I'd like to focus on just two.
Obedience and Faith.
If we wish to experience the best that God has for us, then obedience and faith need to be our reality 24/7. It was through disobedience to God's instruction in the garden of Eden that it all started to go wrong for mankind and it has been bad news for everyone who chose to disobey an instruction from God ever since.
Please read for yourself the account of Achan, (Jos 7) & King Saul (1 Sam 13). Yet God delights in blessing us beyond anything that we can naturally achieve by our own ability, when we choose to obey Him - see Lev 26:1-13 and Deut 28:1-14.
The Bible says that it is impossible to please God without faith. It was faith and confidence in God's promises that enabled God to make Abraham the father of many. So what has all this got to do with why it is taking so long to experience the promises that God has made to me and you?
Can we honestly say that we have been totally obedient to God and live in perfect faith or have we messed up from time to time? Are we confessing and speaking God's Word one moment and the next doing something contrary to His Word.
If so we need to check ourselves. A whole generation of GOD'S OWN people died in the desert because of a lack of obedience and faith in God, and they were on their way to their promised land for that matter. Let's not miss out on God's best for us.
We may be waiting on God to move us to the next level - but in reality God is waiting on us to be obedient to His Word over us and to live in faith having perfect confidence and trust in Him. So let's walk in obedience and faith so that we will experience the promises that HE has made to us.
